An inside view of my little garden room studio

I focused on my art more over the last 12 years when I started to work part time and finally retired.

I have attended various art workshops and completed an on-line art course achieving a pass and merit award with The London College of Arts.

I have always enjoyed anything arts and crafts throughout my life. I used to live in Buckinghamshire, and moved to Rothwell in Northamptonshire 17 years ago.

I mostly work with coloured pencils, but on occasion I use other mediums as well, like oils and acrylics. My inspiration comes from the natural world and my love of animals and birds from all continents.

It’s been rewarding to be a member of the Association of Animal Artists which also helps support worthy wildlife causes.

Northants & Rutland Open Studios have made such a difference to me being able to meet other artist and sharing our views has been a wonderful experience. I am a new member to the Harborough Art Cluster and look forward to sharing and showing my work in this historic and picturesque town.

I work from a small garden room, and find it relaxing and peaceful; even my dog Cracker likes to visit me most days while I’m working, and is happy just to sleep on my doormat enjoying our quiet time together.

ore have been focused mostly on my art.

The natural world never ceases to amaze me with all of its  beauty and colour.  So it's no surprise that my art direction has taken me to capture wildlife, and  showcase my love of animals .

I started out with painting my own pets to frame and treasure some years ago, and from there I have worked on a number of different subjects.  I like to paint, but coloured pencils are my go to tools for detail.

Getting the fur, facial features, and anatomy right with subjects that refuse to stand still could prove to be challenging to say the least. So I tend to use good quality photos for reference with full permission from the photographer .
